Somatic bodywork

Somatic bodywork

LISBON · IN PERSON

Your body has been speaking for years.

Through the jaw that never unclenches. The digestion issues. The exhaustion that follows you no matter how much you sleep. The pain that keeps returning even when nothing appears wrong.

At some point, your body stopped feeling like somewhere you lived and started feeling like a problem you were constantly negotiating with.

This work helps you listen to what it has been trying to say.

WHAT THE BODY IS HOLDING

SOMATIC BODYWORK

Somatic bodywork is not standard massage. It does not treat the body as a mechanical object to be fixed. It works with the body as a living, sensing, intelligent system, and with the stories and protective patterns that shaped how you came to inhabit it.

Much of what we carry physically was never only physical. The shoulders that will not drop. The breath that stays high and shallow. The gut that holds what the mind will not. The place that braces a fraction of a second before anything has happened. These are not random. They are the body's intelligence, doing what it learned to do to keep you safe.

Sessions move slowly, with precision, listening to what your body is doing rather than imposing a fixed protocol. No two sessions are the same, because no two bodies are the same. Each one is composed for your nervous system, your goals, and what your body is asking for on that particular day. This is not menu-based work. It is a genuinely responsive, integrative approach to hands-on healing.

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

✓ Chronic PAIN WITH NO CLEAR EXPLANATION.
✓ TENSION THAT ALWAYS RETURNS.
✓ Burnout, exhaustion, and sleep that does not restore you.
✓ A BODY THAT FEELS NUMB, DISCONNECTED, OR HARD TO LIVE IN.

✓ SYMPTOMS THAT SHIFT BUT NEVER FULLY RESOLVE.
✓ Emotional overwhelm or shutdown held somewhere physical.
✓ THE SENSE THAT YOUR BODY IS CARRYING MORE THAN IT SHOULD HAVE TO.
✓ Scar tissue or restriction from surgery, birth, or injury.

WHAT WE WORK WITH

  • Maybe you've tried stretching, massage, physio, supplements, or simply ignoring it and hoping it goes away. Yet your shoulders still creep towards your ears, your jaw stays tight, your lower back keeps flaring up, or there is a place in your body that never seems to fully let go. At some point, it starts feeling less like a symptom and more like part of who you are.

  • You get through the day, but it comes at a cost. Rest doesn't feel restorative. Your mind keeps moving long after your workday ends. Even when there is nothing urgent happening, your body struggles to believe it. You know how to push through. Switching off is the harder skill. We work with the patterns that make it difficult to slow down, relax, and recover.

  • You may be the person everyone relies on. The one who holds it together, gets things done, and rarely asks for help. But a body that is always giving eventually becomes depleted. Part of this work is learning that support, rest, and care are not things you have to earn.

  • Sometimes what is happening physically is carrying something emotional underneath it. Not because your pain is "all in your head," but because the body often stores overwhelming experiences that didn’t get a chance to move. The boundary violation you told no one about. The grief you had to keep functioning through. The anger that never felt safe to express.

  • Many of us learned to pay attention to everyone else's needs before our own. Over time, it becomes difficult to know what a genuine yes feels like, let alone a no. This work helps you notice your body's response in real time so your choices start coming from you, rather than from habit, obligation, or fear.

  • Many people arrive here realizing they spend far more time thinking about their body than actually feeling it. Hunger gets ignored. Fatigue gets overridden. Tension only gets noticed when it becomes impossible to ignore. This work helps you rebuild a relationship with your body's signals before they have to shout.

WHAT CHANGES

This work will give you the tools and guidance you need to so that…

✓ You stop treating your body like a machine that should perform on command.
✓ Tension, pain, and exhaustion are no longer the only ways your body gets your attention.
✓ You begin noticing your body's signals before they become symptoms.

✓ Rest starts feeling restorative instead of impossible.
✓ More sensation. Less bracing.
✓ More trust in your body. Less fighting against it.
✓ More of your life experienced from the inside.

FROM SURVIVING TO INHABITING

THE ARC OF THE WORK
  • 01 / Pre-care

Before we touch anything difficult, we create the conditions for honesty. The kind that lets you feel what you feel, want what you want, and know where you end and someone else begins.

  • 02 / The Body Leads

Through touch, breath, awareness, and tracking sensation, we work with what the body is holding. We follow what is present rather than imposing a fixed agenda. The body sets the pace.

  • 03 / we meet it

Whatever rises is met with support, choice, and your full agency intact. Physical sensation. Emotion. Fatigue. Grief. Relief. What has been held alone no longer has to be.

  • 04 / Integration

What happens in session is only part of the work. We track what shifts, make sense of what opened, and bring it into your real life. The goal is not a powerful session. It is a different way of being with yourself.

WHAT A SESSION MAY INCLUDE

  • Sometimes the story lives in the body before it can be put into words. Through guided conversation and body awareness, we explore what your nervous system, interoceptive and exteroceptive awareness, emotions, and physical sensations may be trying to communicate.

  • Understanding your body changes your relationship with it. Learn the anatomy, physiology, and nervous system foundations that help make sense of sensation, arousal, boundaries, pleasure, pain, and regulation.

  • Most people know what consent is conceptually but struggle to feel it in real time. Through experiential exercises, you learn to recognize your yes, your no, your maybe, and communicate them with greater clarity and confidence.

  • The breath can reveal where the body is holding, protecting, or bracing. Simple breath practices help create more space for sensation, regulation, presence, and emotional processing.

  • Many people have spent years disconnected from parts of their body through shame, criticism, or neglect. Guided self-touch helps you build a more honest relationship with sensation, pleasure, and your own experience through your own hands.

  • Consent-based touch used to support awareness, release holding patterns, increase sensation, and help the body experience new possibilities for safety, ease, and connection.

  • A space to explore desire, arousal, fantasy, pleasure, turn-ons, and erotic identity without shame, performance, or pressure to be anyone other than yourself.

  • Most of us were never taught how our anatomy actually works. Through education and guided exploration, you learn to recognize sensation, numbness, arousal, pleasure, and preference, so you can better understand and communicate what your body is telling you.

  • Specialized work with scars and the tissue around them to support mobility, sensation, comfort, and reconnection. Often used after surgery, birth, injury, or trauma when a part of the body no longer feels quite like your own.

WHAT THIS IS, AND IS NOT

This is trauma-informed, consent-based somatic bodywork. Touch is always negotiated and adapted to what feels right on the day. You are never pushed past your edge, and you are never required to share more than feels comfortable.

It is not standard massage. Different scope, different methodology, different intention. It is not a sexual service. It is not a tantra massage. It is not therapy, though it reaches places talk alone often cannot. It is body-based work that addresses what is actually happening in your tissue and your nervous system, held in relationship rather than done to you at a distance.

FAQS

  • AKA as Sexological Bodywork, Somatic bodywork is a hands-on approach that works with the body as part of the healing process. Rather than focusing only on thoughts or symptoms, it helps bring awareness to tension, holding patterns, sensation, and the ways the body has adapted over time.

  • Massage is often focused on muscles and relaxation. Somatic bodywork pays attention to your relationship with sensation, tension, emotions, boundaries, and nervous system responses. The goal is not simply temporary relief but lasting change.

  • Clients often seek support for chronic tension, stress, burnout, body disconnection, emotional holding patterns, difficulty relaxing, and a general sense that they are carrying more than their body was designed to hold.
