Why the Tension Keeps Coming Back

f stretching worked permanently, the tension would already be gone. If the gym fixed it, it would have fixed it by now. Most people who land in my Lisbon practice have already tried the obvious things, and the obvious things worked for an afternoon.

That's because the tension usually isn't a tissue problem. It's a holding pattern, something the body learned to do and never learned how to stop doing, long after whatever it was protecting against is gone.

Somatic bodywork works with that directly. Not by relaxing the muscle for an hour. By working with the nervous system underneath the muscle, the part that decided, at some point, that staying braced was safer than letting go.

A session in Lisbon is hands-on, specific, and entirely consent-based. Nothing happens without it being negotiated first, including how much, where, and at what pace. We work with sensation, with restriction, sometimes with scar tissue if surgery or injury is part of the picture, always tracking what the body is actually doing rather than applying the same protocol to everyone.

People often start this work because something hurts. Most stay for what comes after the pain resolves, which is usually more sensation, more ease, and a body that no longer feels like something to manage from a distance.

This isn't massage, and it isn't therapy, though it touches places that talk rarely reaches. It's specific work, done in relationship, with a body that's been asked to hold too much for too long.
